About

Every successful individual knows that his or her achievement depends on a community of persons working together.

Texas Family Initiative LLC is a private nonprofit organization that provides experience, compassion, quality care, and services for children in foster care and foster/adopt families. We hold Foster Care Recruitment Contracts with the Texas Department of Human Services, Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS). As a partner with DFPS, we recruit and train families to become foster and/adoptive parents.

We support foster parents to provide a caring, loving home to foster children. Many children placed in out of home placement suffer from complex trauma as a result of maltreatment in their family home, as well as the trauma of the removal from their parents/caregivers.  We recognize the adverse impact that traumatic stress has on children’s developing brains. We train our foster families to be aware of the impact trauma can have on children and teach them skills to help children build resiliency.

Our mission is about strengthening families. To achieve this, we are committed to continuously improve the quality of all our services. TFI facilitates a continuous quality improvement process through internal reviews of program and administrative departments. These reviews help us design training and education programs for staff and maintain our focus on program outcomes. We also monitor our child placing licenses, coordinate with external agencies on compliance and provide a structure for quality improvement activities in all of our programs. These activities involve organizing and assembling provider meetings with stakeholders, managing the client satisfaction survey process, resolving contract issues, analysis of outcomes and quality of services and reporting on agency compliance. In addition, we coordinate regulatory agency audits from Council on Accreditation, Department of Family and Protective Services and other child welfare community-based service providers. Management of reviews and reporting of audits and program improvement plans help TFI build upon success and identify needs early.
